2024-2025 Season

Valley Classical Concerts is offering another full line-up of six concerts in the 2024-25 season.  The season begins October 20.  All six concerts are at Sweeney Concert Hall at Smith College. Here is the program:

Sunday, October 20, 3:00 pm, Sweeney Concert Hall, The Israeli Chamber Project

Performers for this concert are Assaff Weissman, piano, Carmit Zori, violin & Raman Ramakrishnan, cello. Jörg Widmann – Selections from Duos for violin and cello, Robert Schumann: Sonata for Violin and Piano in D minor, Op. 121, Maurice Ravel: Piano Trio.

Saturday, November 2, 7:30 pm, Sweeney Concert Hall – The Ciompi String Quartet with pianist Ieva Jokūbavičiūte

The Ciompi, long-time quartet-in-residence at Duke University, were last with us some years ago, when they premiered a Quartet by old friend Don Wheelock. With recent favorite Ieva J., they’ll play Polish composer Mieczyslaw Weinberg’s Piano Quintet & other works.

Saturday, December 14, 7:30 pm, Sweeney Concert Hall – The Lysander Trio with violinist Itamar Zorman

They were last with us (minus their regular pianist) in 2022. You’ll recognize their violinist, Itamar Zorman, from his excellent concert for us earlier this season. Program TBA.

Sunday, February 9, 7:30 pm, Sweeney Concert Hall – The Lydian String Quartet with pianist Jiayan Sun

A Boston institution, the Lydian will join our friend Jiayan to play Cesar Franck’s imposing Piano Quintet & other works.

Sunday, March 9, 3:00 pm, Sweeney Concert Hall – Espressivo! Piano Quartet

Returning from our last season is Anna Polonsky, piano, Jaime Laredo, violin, Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt, viola, Sharon Robinson, cello. Program to be announced.

Sunday, March 18, 3:00 pm, Sweeney Concert Hall – The Ulysses String Quartet

Haydn: “Emperor” Quartet, Lera Auerbach: String Quartet No. 3, “Cetera desunt,” Dvorak: String Quartet in A-flat Major, Op. 105.
